Spicy Hot Sweet Potato Hummus

so…I’m a hummus girlie now…which is crazy, because I didn’t used to like hummus. LA has converted me. This is a classy, healthy recipe to serve for holiday gatherings and festive eating moments. Sweet potatoes are one of my fave produce items, especially during autumn and fall, so this recipe blends a few of those flavor profiles all together. Enjoy by yourself or with your favorite people.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 medium sweet potato, peeled and roasted or cooked

  • 1 cup cooked chickpeas/garbanzos (or one can of chickpeas, rinsed and drained)

  • 3 tablespoons spicy tahini

  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled and minced

  • 1 teaspoon sea salt, to taste

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper or hot sauce (start with less, season to spicy preference)

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ¼ teaspoon cumin

  • juice of 1 lemon

Ingredients

Toss all of the ingredients into a food processor and blend well until smooth. (If you’re sensitive to spice, you may want to save the spices for last and add them to taste).

Garnish with sesame seeds, green herbs, crispy chickpeas, or sprinkles of paprika. Serve with salted pita or naan chips and enjoy with your favorite people.
